Helm seat on Wirihana, made 80+ years ago out of our native wood – pohutukawa.

Gay Dawn & Safari on the Tamaki River circa 1964/66. The two owners are having a chat during the winter overhaul on the “hard” (softish muddy little beach actually) which was actually between their houses. Safari is currently undergoing a ‘renovation’ by a CYA member.
Some additional info supplied by Ken Ricketts – ” The 2 owners referred to were, my late father Ralph Ricketts on Gay Dawn & the late Karl Kasper on Safari on the little beach alongside & between their 2 houses — taken by me, from my parents property, & Kaspers property you can see right above & behind Safari, — great place for 2 boaties to live eh!! — Karl of course was part of the Kasper family that owned the “Pearl Kasper” the scow which he ran for many years”

A friend of a friend bought this for him in France. And it gets used & we are all very grateful for the friend of the friends gift.

Little Jim & Raindance in Patio Bay, post race, prior to the CYA Christmas Party

This ones a blast from the past, Aumoe the 1913 Tom Le Huquet designed launch rafted alongside Radio Hauraki’s pirate radio ship – ‘Tiri’. One has to wonder what she was delivering………………….

You have to love the depth charges (??) on the stern & the (now days) very un-PC cartoon on them 🙂 🙂

One of the prettiest boats in the CYA, owned by one of the nicest guys (Steve Horsley)
All I know is the location is Matakana. A fellow waitematawoody advised that the people aboard could possibly by the Ravenhall family of Victoria Ave Remuera . photo c1939
