The Waitemata

The ww readers that are lucky to live on,around or near the majestic Waitemata Harbour know that they live in a special part of the world – well its almost overnight got better, for the next week or so one of the worlds biggest yachting gigs has arrived in town  – the Volvo Ocean Race. And folks its pretty impressive, I would encourage you to pay a visiti to Auckland’s Waterfront & catch it out. Each to their own but early evening / dusk is my pick. Lots of places to enjoy a drinks, grab a snack, watch some live entertainment & check out the race fleet.

After dinner on Friday night at the CYA Yacht Regatta Race HQ we wandered back thru the Viaduct area – it was special & that was before the boats had arrived. In fact as I’m typing this it sounds like a scene out of the movie ‘Apocalypse Now’ i.e. there are helicopters buzzing over the house so I think the 1st boat/s have arrived.
