Paeroa Historical Maritime Park & Museum

Paeroa Historical Maritime Park & Museum

Following on from Easters Woody Cruise up the Waihou River to Paeroa, today we get a sneak peak at the venue for the weekends activities – the Historical Maritime Park & Museum. The Museum is located just above the banks of the river on State Highway 2, just before the township of Paeroa, you can’t miss it. Map at the bottom of todays story.

The Museum building and the surrounding Park grounds hosts an amazing collection of memorabilia from both the area and New Zealand’s nautical past, do stop, you will not be disappointed.

  1. Yikes! Some one needs to rescue it off that pile.Brook was a lawyer who lived on Cheltenham Beach, and died quite young, over 30 years ago so it must have been left in his will to the Paeroa Museum dont know if he was related to Jack Brook, maybe a nephew?was a great little fishing and day boat, very stable and reliable, with its Petter diesel.

  2. I once owned an 18ft kauri clinker open boat, built by Jack Brooke of Narrow Neck for the Wakatere Sailing Club date of build was 1936,boat was named Wakatere and used as a club tender.the boat was sold to a Nigel Brooke of Devonport.remember seeing the boat on a trailer at the Paeroa Maritme Museum,in a very poor state, dont know what became of it

Allan – This is most likely to be it given the name 🙂 Cheers Alan H
ps – its not in as good condition as she looks, paint hides a lot of sins – she wouldn’t float
