CLASSIC WOODEN BOAT – KORARI II – A Peek Down Below

Back in 2017 the 1964 built, 36’ Mason Clipper – KORARI II made an appearance on WW but we never got a gander below. Now thanks to Ian McDonal’s eagle eyes on tme we get to see her impressive interior.

KORARI II is powered by twin 135hp Perkins HT6364M diesel engines.

  1. Another wonderful example of the perfection of Tony Mason’s work, with that slant/flat version of the 2 Perkins, which are certainly not common here, but to me at least, very interesting, as I’ve only seen a few of them.

I have realized, he used a number of unusual versions of various engines, in quite number his boats, e.g. ALIBI with two 6 cyl. Mitsubishis which from recall may have had Chrysler labels, driving stern drives, — (counter rotating).

In this case, I just can’t work out, why he did not have the propellers turning out, so the boat would then maneuver properly.

As many of us know, that can never happen, when both props turn the same way. –KEN R
