GD has always been a lucky boat in that her past owners have kept her in good nick, and that continues to right now as GD is currently hauled out for a new shiny paint job.

Always loved that ship -apart from her spareman which seems a bit ungainly up fwd. Yep, varnish was her style really but that is the whim, fancy and devotion of the owner. The url of the CYA article by Ken doesn’t seem to open. Any chance of getting it back?

My father Ralph Ricketts, during hIs stewardship of GAY DAWN, cast those name plates as shown above, in bronze himself, polished them, & had them chrome plated (by Eden Electrolaters Ltd), in 1959, & they still look brand new today, in the above image. — LOVELY — KEN R
