SNOW GOOSE

The 24’ launch Snow Goose was built in 1963 at the Salthouse yard, and recently popped up on tme (thanks Ian McDonald). The forward propulsion is via a marinised 3L Mazda Titan diesel engine.

And that woodys is all we know about her – can we learn some more about what she has been up to for the last 60 years. Home is currently Tauranga.

  1. I’ve spotted Snowgoose out therearound the harbour and gulf since 1970.. something very pretty and jaunty about her. I always thought she was a Gladden ( I think I was told that) . Nice to see her so well fettled. 🙂

  2. Back about 1975 we owned a similar looking boat we called ‘Snow Goose’ but it had a petrol engine. We kept it up on the Wade River – until it got repossessed by a finance company because the previous owner had not paid off his debt!! The trickster who took the boat nearly sunk it so by the time it was back in Auckland it wasn’t worth much at all, so we lost boat and money.
