The launch in the pic is one of the Hubert Scott-Paine 40 footers imported at the beginning of 1940 for TEAL and taken over by the Air Force. W6? Below is a photo of W2.

The really story is the XK150 Jag below, It was owned by Mr Gardner of Gardner Engines in the UK), Thats him standing alongside it. He re-engined it with a Gardner diesel back in the late1950’s. Rumour has it while the acceleration was not great once off the line she was a flyer 😉 Probably priceless if still around today. Boat & Jag photos ex Ken Ricketts

There was only 40 approx all alloy 4lk gardners built. The rest were typical cast iron heads and blocks with alloy crankcase.
Only two 6lk engines were built which is a pity.

The Packard was scrapped any years ago. Do you like those Wood-Lites? I had a pair for my Kissel Gold Bug but couldn’t see that they worked any better than the factory issue. Interesting optics though..

Re the XK150 it was advertised in the eighties, so a collector may have it, performance it did not have but fuel economy was wonderful.

Harold, is that Packard of Lyn C still around?? those little 4LK engines were all light alloy and ran so sweetly

I think the Air force boat may be the 28 ft W2 built 1930 by Charles Bailey & Son.
