CLASSIC WOODEN LAUNCH – FANTASY – A Peek Down Below
There are a few classic wooden launches that I would never take my partner onto – one of them is FANTASY, the 1952 McGeady built launch. Powered by a 72hp Sole diesel engine.
Her interior fit out would have me having to create some excuse as to why she wouldn’t be suitable for us. FANTASY ticks most of your boxes and has the added bonus of a fire / heater.
The launch made a brief appearance on tme last year and then disappeared, hopefully her owners changed their mind 🙂

Colin Lannum the original owner of her, was a brilliant cabinet maker.
He initially had the LADY DIANNA (not to be confused with Phil Seabrook’s LADY DIANA with one “N”), built for him around 1949 by Mac McGeady & a few years later in the 1950s McGeady built him the FANTASY.
Both boats were similar lengths, both with sedan tops & similar lines, but FANTSASY was more elaborate & luxurious inside. He built the entire interiors of both boats himself.
It is so very wonderful to see her today looking more or less absolutely original, & in particular with the same standard of her maintenance. — KEN R (edited AH)
