CLASSIC STEAM BOAT KOTARE – ON FIRE LAST NIGHT
The top two photos came in late last night from woody John Dawson, who reported that the 26’ steam boat – KOTARE was on fire at the riverside dock in Warkworth, very sad images.
I took the photos below of her in May 2022 at the same location.
I have included below some intel on the vessel ex fellow steam boat owner John Olsen

Very sad. Daniel and others had put so much work into refining her and she was often seen out steaming. A fine ship and a tribute to the doggedness of her builder in seeing her entire build through over many years -Hull and all her machinery practically solo.

Oh No!!! this is so sad to see on such a beautiful boat. She was looking awesome at our parade last year with her new paint job and is a feature in our 2025 calendar (July plus in group shot on the cover). We were looking forward to your attendance again next weekend. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling… sending hugs! Rachel
