Lady Karita Needs Some TLC

Lady Karita Needs Some TLC

The magnificent 43’ Sam Ford built (1934) launch – Lady Karita is looking very unloved on her Nelson marina berth. Sadly her owner passed away earlier this year and the southern sun is starting to have its way with the finish 😦

Someone needs to buy some shade cloth.

Boatshed Parties Getting All Trendy

The Slipway Milford had their end of year bbq bangers in bread + few beers yesterday – Here I go getting in trouble with the Human Rights Commission again – but the additional of some workers with two X chromosomes has stepped up the calibre of the fare 🙂 Two of the below graced the lunchroom table – well done Jan B.

  1. Disappeared off the NZ Boat Sales site, so perhaps sold. She was in superb condition when Murray Shaw died earlier this year, but now showing the first minor signs of deterioration. Would be a shame if she reverted to anything but exquisite

  2. Unquestrionably the best & most beauituf boat that Sam Ford ever built in my View, & it is very sad that her owner has now passed away, & yes indeed, she does need that TLC, she has had in such aboundance all her life, & what a beautiful gesture fron Nick Smith, to offer his help & give his support, to bring her up to scratch again, — Still beuatiful, & not grossly neglected, but the work needs to be done urgently, before she gets to that stage, & we can only hope that her next parents, will continue her with outstanding heritage. & continue to give her the love she has always had, & so very richly deserves. — Long may she live. — KEN R

  3. Oh, very sad that the loving owner has left her. Boats thrive on love and attention -had a girlfriend like that….
Lady Karita was always good in the old daze -the frying bridge is fairly recent and not badly done. No plastic cover atop.
My first memories of her were Christmas cruise to Kawau in 1960. Lovely smells of gin, fags and varnish when rowing past. lots of laughter.
’tis said that the man who commissioned her stood over Sam Ford to ensure the quality prevailed……. no dodgy wood etc.
