Felisa >> Whangatupere

FELISA >> WHANGATUPERE

The 32’ launch Whangatupere started life named Felisa, designed for Stan Blonde by Gerry Lane and built by Phil Barton in St. Mary’s Bay, Auckland – and launched in 1949.

As Fiesta she has made several appearance on WW, the 2015 story has more details and photos – links below.

Now thanks to woody Eric Moore sending in the above we get to see recent photos of the launch, now renamed Whangatupere.

I love the small steadying sail – very salty 🙂 WW Jan 2015 https://waitematawoodys.com/2015/01/22/felisa/

  1. Hi Ken, don’t worry, she is still Felisa but is Whangatupere for the moment. We have had her since 1999 and she is well loved and lovingly maintained by my husband and myself. Nothing much has changed in her or on her-other than repairs and maintenance and a ton of man hours spent removing white paint and a ton of money on evadure and varnish. Her name will return to Felisa when the inevitable has to happen.

  2. Hopefully someone in the future will do as Arnold Baldwin did with VALSAN c1947 when he gave her back her original concept and heritage in full, when he changed her back to her original name of VALSAN, from Lady Edith. — KEN R
