MANSION HOUSE BAY – THERE WAS ALWAYS ROOM FOR ONE MORE
The recent Kawau Island photos on WW have rattled the biscuit tin photo albums and WW has received several duplicates of photos that have already appeared on WW.
Todays photo ex Chris Leech is a newbie to my eyes and shows a great mix of yachts and motor launches at anchor in Mansion House Bay, Kawau Island.
Always amazes me how they used to fill the bay back then. These days even with vastly superior anchors, most skippers are paranoid about you getting too close.

There are actually one or 2 more, as an afterthought, that I feel are actually worthy of mention, & they are Percy Colebrook’s MANANUI, & what is almost certainly the back end of Com Hardley’s VARLENE, (originally LADY SUNSHINE,) & renamed by the Hardleys. — KEN R

A second walk back through time in just a week or 2, FANTASTIC, & even my parent’s JULIANA, (front end), along with Len Peckham’s gorgeous Garth Lane built LADY SANDRA, Widderspoon’s AMAKURA, Colin Lanam’s LADY DIANNA, Goodfellow’s MOVARIE, Jack Brook’s TASMAN, SUNRAY with her “new look,” Stan Headland’s LADY JOAN, Larry Johnston’s ROTOITI (aka ATLANTA), are there this time, also Les Webber’s MARO, all amongst the rest of crowd. —
The above were the owners of the day, & the names of the boats, at the time this must have been taken.
