CLASSIC WOODEN LAUNCH – A BLAZE (past event)
Todays rather disturbing photos again come to us via Robyn Kellian and Tobias Forsyth.Unfortunately WW knows zero about how the wooden double-ender came to be (1) aground (2) a blaze.
I could be wrong but at first glance it appears to have the makings of a ‘Beehive restoration’ eg a box of matches was involved.Whatever the situation its a sad end to what would have once been a fine classic wooden boat.
Can we learn any more eg boats name, date of photo, location and what actually happened.

She appears not to have any stern tube or skin fittings for the prop shaft, so to that extent it would seem to me, that all the mechanical bits & engine may have removed & they are just getting rid of the rest of her the way they have, as an expedient.
A real shame as she really looks to have been a very interesting boat, & I agree as to the position possibly being leigh. — KEN R

Typical of a high-style Logan Bros build c1903-11 or several other top Auckland builders in the same style after them. There was a very similar boat on the ex-Lidgard slip at Kawau in the early 1980s. I have often cursed myself for not following up on that boat.
