CAN WE PUT A NAME TO THIS CLASSIC WOODEN LAUNCH – ALICE

Todays photo is another from the Auckland maritime museum, specifically from the Fletcher Collection and the photographer is listed as William Fletcher. The photo comes to us via Lew Redwood.

Sadly we have no other intel but she does look very familiar.

Anyone able to enlighten us with a name, builder and location etc.

HAROLD KIDD INPUT – ALICE is right, built by Chas Bailey Jr in September 1921 for the Inspector of Fisheries, Northland. 30hp 3 cylinder Twigg.

  1. In the mid to late 1990’s there was an Alice moored at Stillwater in the channel on the other side of the mangrove Island. It looked similar to this boat and was the same era. It sank on the mooring several times and was eventually sent to the tip in pieces. It was owned by Jason a local resident. If there are any aerial photo’s from this period the Alice I remember may be in them.
