AC / DECS

AC/DECS

After over a week of wooden boating varnish and bling its time to come back down to reality. Just before the sh_t storm hit NZ Jason Prew slipped the lines for an overnighter at Islington Bay, Rangitoto Island.

Todays photo came from that trip and the featured launch is an unknown to both Jason and myself. So woodys – can anyone help ID the boat named AC /DECS.

I suspect there may have been several sheets of plywood used in her construction………..

UPDATE 19-02-2023 – Ken Ricketts advises that in a previous life it was named Whironui. 2016 WW story and photos here https://waitematawoodys.com/2016/01/25/whironui/

  1. She is another of the 1960s double or triple skin opposite diagonal kauri Shipbuilders Ltd, kitsets, & I’d say she is a 32 or 34 foot version.

Also that is not her original name, She is, (or was) the WHIRONUI & I have 7 images of her in her early days & others I took on 28.12.2015. — KEN R
