TUGBOAT TUESDAY
Now folks if you are in/around Auckland next Monday, you must check out the Tug Boat Race that is part of the Anniversary Day Regatta – some would say its the best part 🙂 its certainly the most spectacular & it all happens in the inner harbour (refer chart below). Just make your way to a vantage point (pack the binoculars) & I can guarantee you will be entertained.
The race starts at 10.00am. off Princes Wharf.
If you are a float, give them plenty of room – they are deceptively fast & rather large 🙂

I particularly loved the pic a couple of years back of Curlew flying home on the cover of Professional Skipper mag you could see Cams white knuckles on the flying bridge even brighter than his gold chain!
Perhaps Auckland could take a hint from Maine and run a fishing boat race on the day as well–leading up to the blessing of the fleet which is already happening. I think I could organise sponsorship.

Hi Cameron
I asked for photos & that’s what I got – if anyone has more, email them to me. I’m normally at Mahurangi over the Anniversary weekend, so none in my library.
Cheers Alan

Yes Ronaki. Her gardner beating away ” i think i can i think i can”. Now a moan. Surely after some years of tug fests on auckland anniversary day WW could put up more recent photos of said race. The ones posted with captain D Skyrme, s fantastic PHYLLIS are some years old as Dave hasn’t had her downtown for a long while. May I suggest a few shots of the century plus aged CURLEW blistering the field to claim victory not once but twice ?? Or is it that the shutter action on then cameras couldn’t capture the moment ?? Cheers.

I stand to be corrected but I think the white boat on the left is Meola and the blue vessel is John Streets Te Hauraki.
