ROMANCE II – WoW
Just received a photo of R2 on the trailer just prior to re-launching yesterday at Gulf Harbour. I have to say that Harold & Marco have nailed it in terms of restoring her back to almost the exact original configuration. Take a bow Mr & Mrs Kidd.

I have located one for sale in California; just retired from powering an oil rig as did many of those whacking great 150hp Sterlings. Trouble is that you’d have to tow a fuel barge.

Great work Harold, Pauline and Marco. Didn’t notice the original petrol engine though.

Magnificent! An absolute credit to the vision of Harold & Pauline and the craftsmanship of Marco & Co. Should I make it to NZ over summer, I’m very much looking forward to making good use of my little Clipper, which has all new “ngakau” after a winter refit. Wanna race Harold??

Yes that’s the sight I remember Alan: a superb day with a superb concept of a race where both yachts and launches mingle

Mad hoons, hope they grow up to be upstanding citizens! Seriously though I love the looking down the side to see forward.

It is great to see a family willing to return a boat to its original configuration despite the fact that in doing so they may loose more room or comfort. It is very rare in my opinion to see an altered launch that has become better looking through modernisation.Well done to Harold and family for making this reversion. My only disappointment is that she will not be at Patio Bay as I love the photo of her a few years ago, stern dug in, going flat out in one of the first races to Patio Bay on a lovely summers day.
