An Oops or a mid season bottom clean?
Someone out there might be able to enlighten us as to what really was happening but by the assembled ‘crowd’ looks more like Shenandoah had been practicing her impact hygrography skills 🙂
I also posted a photo to once again remind us what a magnificent ‘ship’ she was in her heyday.

Harold has kindly reminded me that the book was “And Not to Yield” by Thora Parker. Striving and seeking is OK too. It is a story of her family 1840 -1940 and a good read. I seem to recall that her father, who had the mighty ship built, did quite well out of rubberwear for the farming industry -milking cups etc.

Shenandoah’s owner was prone to bouts of impact hydrography according to his daughter. This is, I fear one such episode and I think it she mentioned it in her book -I forget the details. The good ship was floated off on the next tide undamaged.
