WHAT BECAME OF THE CLASSIC LAUNCH SIRENA

WHAT BECAME OF THE CLASSIC LAUNCH SIRENA

The 1960, Orams built launch SIRENA once made several appearances at woody events and then I believe reverted to a live-a-board, with the occasional excursion as a mark boat for the Hobsonville Sailing Club.

Recently, SIRENA surfaced on the market — and from the listing photos, she appeared to be showing the effects of time and use. So today’s WW story is a bit of a call-out: does anyone know what became of her? Was she sold, and if so, where is SIRENA now?

  1. Ken- the 37ft Maritza ex- Cyrena was burned to the keel on the beach at Parengarenga after being stolen (purchased with a forged cheque) from Jack Lidgard in 1959.

  2. whoops my comment ended up under Gunner. As to Sirena I don’t know about the effects of time and use, it is straight out lack of maintenance. A crying shame as she was a lovely boat

  3. I’d also like to know what happened to the other Cyrena (the launch named as such at one time, – there was also a yacht CYRENA as well,– ) both owned at one time by Boy Belvie), that was owned by Belvie in the 1930s.- KEN R
