IDOLON – Where Is She

A by the name of Brad McDermit yesterday posted on the ‘Old North Auckland – Northland Photos & Stories ‘fb asking if anyone knew the status / whereabouts of a launch named – IDOLON that his uncle, Francis Arlidge built in Russell for this other uncle Fred Baker.

Can you help Brad out re the boat.

Ah huh! Brad, I too have been looking for this boat – and asked this very question some years ago. She appears in another Woody post some time ago, with a US Army number 17 on her bow. Now I know she was Idolon – but what happened to her? Very beautiful lines indeed.
