The Williams Sisters  – Marihi & Banshee

Relax, I’m not talking women tennis – early in the new year I was contacted by Shaun Oliver advising that he had recently purchased the Allen Williams built launch – Marihi. Shaun has relocated Marihi from Jamesons Bay to her birth place – Milford Creek.

In the above photo we see Marihi ‘holding hands’ with another Allen Williams launch – Banshee. The location is Smelting House Bay at KAWAU ISLAND. The bay is the semi permanent home for Banshee, owned by David and Robyn Lee.

WW is light on intel on Marihi, other than the second photo above that I snapped of her in Bon Accord Harbour, KAWAU ISLAND back in Oct 2022.

Can we learn more about her.

  1. Marihi was the first Banshee then Allan builded the second one and launched the new one as Banshee. If my memory is right she is 18 inches longer and was launched with a 180 hp ford.

  2. I recall looking at Marihi when she was for sale in Whangarei mid to late 90s, also seen in the mid 2000s at Doves Bay, Kerikeri. Looked nice with varnished topsides back then. I think she had a Ford 120 with V drive.

  3. Good to see these two sisters still being loved.
I worked as a boatbuilding apprentice for Alan Williams, and his son Dick, at the yard in Milford and assisted with the construction of Banshee.
I still have the set of caulking irons I purchased especially for doing this hull, it was a new skill learner by me
