Jason sent me this photo a while ago & I filed it in the ‘holiday post’ file – these days we are so PC about life-jackets & smoking, this photo almost seems unbelievable, at least these days 🙂
I wonder if the lady is the babies mother or a nanny – looks a little too formal to be the mother.

If the Nanny, then unlikely to be the Dad in the singlet IMHO. He’d not have been so casual around the Nanny. Could be a co-worker ferrying baby and Nanny (clutching her suitcase and with her hat firmly in place) out to a vessel. An unintended boarding location I’d say given the people watching intently from the beach, one of whom seems to have another plank like the 2 temporary seat bards, and the jury-rigged appearance of the rowlock extensions. A truly wonderful image :-)..!
