DAGMAR
photo ex John Wicks
While we have a name for today’s post, that’s all so it’s really a ‘Mystery Boat’.
CYA member John Wicks (Sirena) took the above photos of the bridge-decker Dagmar, moored in Coromandel Harbour, off Te Kouma Village – he thinks the locals call the bay Hannafords.
According to the young bloke who owns her, she was built at Coromandel by Turner in the 60s. He doesn’t know much else about her.
Hopefully ww can shed more light on this launch.

My Uncle, Fred Hansen, from Tauwhare, owned Dagmar. My Dad, Murray Evans, was his nephew. We spent many a magical day fishing on the Coromandel Harbour, you could fit a lot of people on that boat! My grandmother, Margaret King, was Fred’s sister, and their father bought all the children a section each at Heards Bay, so every Christmas, we would all arrive, lots of fishing, waterskiing, and blackberry picking went on! I remember Nana King used to preserve the blackberries in big preserving jars, and we would make delicious Blackberry Pie🤗🥰

Ken Turner built a number of wholesome boats at his yard at Coromandel. He inherited the excellent quality of workmanship and design from his father Charlie. One of Ken’s many boats is the handsome seiner EIGHT BELLS.
