Lake Taupo Boating – A Look Back In Time

Now this is a really interesting website (very basic) that records the history around boats tjat have been based at Lake Taupo. There is also some great stories on the boats & the history of the Lake. The site is very basic in terms of its layout but have a poke around & you will be pleasantly surprized. We have no idea who is behind the site, Nathan discovered it in a random boat  search.
Enjoy.

  1. No, not the Drakes! Probably the Taupo Museum is the culprit. They have for sale a spiral bound book entitled BOATS OF TAUPO, which was originally written by Charles Cox in the 1980’s. It numbers 119 pages. Michael Drake had some input into updating this book.True, some of the info is anecdotal and suspect. Also, some of the pics on the web site are back to front! But the book contains some classic photos not commonly seen (and which don’t seem to be on the web site). Anybody want a copy of the book – let me know and I will facilitate – $20 I think they are.

  2. Surely the Drakes are behind it? Some of the info is anecdotal and suspect but, on the whole, it’s a very good resource.
