Almost a Mystery Launch

photo ex Dave Jackson

Dave thinks this bridge decker is a Seager boat with Bill Seager and his son Erine on the deck. Photo dated probably
around 1946. Is anyone able to comment, confirm?

  1. I’m not totally sure but think my boat Rorqual was the one furthest out in the shot of three from up on the hill. Rorqual had the most freeboard and beam of all of them being built much later. Jon Perano pops in here from time to time, he might be able to confirm.

  3. Further ot the above I am almost certain this was taken in the “Percy Jennings era” circa 1946-48. I think that is P. J’s wife with her head around the corner of the dodger & his son Don & who was a very solid young man standing on the deck, & also could well be the Corromandel area, where she moored at that time

  4. That is the Gleniffer, built in 1930 by Baileys, & there is already a well documented post jointly by Harold Kidd & yours truly,I did on her some time back in WW. I know this boat very well, & she has been associated with my family since circa 1934, & I have known her personally since about 1946. This is a compartively recent pic., which I have not seen before — she has a dodger in ths one, & originally there was no dodger . I have posted a pic taken circa 1934 when she waws ownned by the late Treveor Davis
