No it’s not. TAIHOA was an altogether bigger craft. I saw this boat at least once a day for many years as we lived in Huia Street with a great view over the Dockyard. Did it have a name? I must look up McDougall tonight.
Isn’t this the Liberty Boat TAIHOA, built at the Dockyard in 1942 and fitted with a 6 cylinder Dorman diesel? If so, she’s still around renamed DOLPHIN SONG, now with a full cabintop but still with the Dorman. These boats are not pleasure launches in the 30s IMHO, but working boats in the 40s or later.
Is that the navy standby liberty boat coming into Admiralty Steps at the rear? The “cattle barge”. Had a bang bang smokey diesel in the ’60s. Nice hull. Woner where she went. AHB workboat with a crewman fending off. Dunno who the small bridgedecker with the life ring on the wheelhouse. All seems very quiet on the wharves.
