Dawn
photo ex Paul Drake ex ‘Boats of Taupo’
The above photo shows Dawn on Lake Taupo, seems they were a little care free in the old days in terms of safety & life jackets, at my count there are 19 people on board 🙂
If you are afloat today/night (New Years eve) you be careful out there.

I love the guy sitting forward with the squeeze-box. Can’t remember a party or get together during my childhood that didn’t have an accordion leading the sing-along. Far better than a guitar, I reckon. Happy New Year to fellow Woodys.

Alan we should take this opportunity to thank you for being so kind as to place the Whangateau Boat Yard Posts on the blog for all to see.
We shall be in the start of our tenth year at the boat yard next year and it has been kind of you to bring the yard to the fore and in such a pleasant way and fitting that promoting the yards continual service to the Whangateau community and beyond is continued. ( the yard has stood at the mercy of the council I’m afraid to say but exists through strong community support)
The photos you placed of the regattas and the project boats and the glimpse into the happenings at the yard seem popular as we hear the feed back.
We shall be starting the Whangateau sailing club back up again but with a little twist. For those interested read Ken Fyfes brief account of these sailing days in the 2014 Mahurangi Cruiseing Club Year book.
Alan, I hope shall let you know how we go with this.
For now – The Whangateau Traditional Small Craft Boating and Sailing Club shall be formed in conjunction with Whangateau Traditional Boat Yard / Boats. In support, promotion and preservation of the boat yard and New Zealand small craft.
Alan, wishing you and your family all the best for the new year and a mighty big thanks for your fun loveing and professional approach.
Thankyou also to the Dreyer family for supporting the boat yard in such a lovely manner.

A lovely little boat, I really like her style. The way the bow rises and the lay of the rounded cabin meets it. The proportions of the bolt upright and square lines of the wheelhouse are suiting and the cheeky port to the side make her quietly confident.
Certainly putting the cabin structure to the test with that lot on top.
