What happened to all the boats ?-

Either everyone has gone to the Coromandel or the NE winds have scared people away.

  1. My thoughts Ken? As I have commented b4, I think most of your writings in the comments section are too long & drawn out. This section is for short, factual additions that compliment the main post.
I’m very aware of the overseas readers, as an example I always use the correct place names eg Waiheke Island not Waiheke. But I’m sure that the overseas readers are very capable of google searching things (if ‘we’ get the spelling correct) & that ultimately this ‘discovery’ adds to their ww experience.

  3. In the highly unlikely event, that there may be someone out there somewhere, who is endeavouring to take the mickey out of me, by using perhaps overly eloquent verbosity, in their voca- bulary, in respect of this site, I would venture to comment, that as noted by Alan, around the time of the 500,000th viewing post, he published a list, showing viewers, from about 8 or 10 countries, from all corners of the world, in just that one day alone, & it has occurred to me, that those of us who contribute to this site, perhaps may not always consider this group of readers sufficiently in our writings, who almost certainly cannot always know things that are obvious to those of us who live here & to these folk, NZ will be just a small dot on a map. accordingly I have taken this in to consideration, in others of my comments to this post.

Your thoughts Alan. — Should we consider overseas readers lack of detailed local geographical knowledge in our postings or replies thereto? — KEN R

  4. ……and for the benefit of inter-galactic viewers, we are a carbon-based life-form about to mark and celebrate the completion of another elliptical circuit around our thermo-nuclear provider of energy and light, and the commencement of another. Our fascination with matters aqueous comes from the fact that our recent ancestors arose in the seas which dominate our planet (and in fact our corporeal structures are nourished and operated by means of a solution derived from the sea).
Some of us are pretty wet still.
Please bear with us. We are just going through a stage.

  6. I can see Rangitoto over the top of the big island centre pic & the tiny corner of what I believe to be Motuihe on the LH end of the big island, — don’t think one would see Rangi, that way at least, from Rocky Bay. — KEN R
