Whats Happening @ Fosters?

I do not post much about people on ww, it is after all – all about the boats –  but I opened my emails this morning & got a shock. One of the rocks of the classic wooden boating movement – Craig Pippen from Fosters is leaving, in fact today is his last day. Now the email (see below) leaves a lot to the imagination, I hope Craig has a course entered into the gps & is not rudder less.

“Hello all, today is my last at Foster/Harken, so with sadness in my heart & a tear in my eye I bid you all farewell. Thanks & best wishes to everyone.”

On behalf of us classic wooden boat nuts I would like to thank Craig for his service & sage advice over the years, we can be a little OTT when it comes to your boats. Craig has always made the Foster visit way more enjoyable & eased the pain of paying for that left -handed bronze thing-a-me-jig, that based on the price must have been the only one in the world 🙂

In this game good people are everywhere, great people are had to find, Craig will be missed.

    Thank you for your mail with the sad news of your Last Day’ at Fosters.
    Are you retiring ? We would like to thank you for all you very special’ customer service which you have always given us over the years.
    Your help and patience was always appreciated and helped us along the way to find that solution for our clients.

  5. Craig and Kathy are moving to Paihia in a couple of weeks and will be missed at the Milford Cruising Club. Southern Star will be moved to a mooring at Opua later and from there they’re looking forward to cruising around the bay and beyond.
    Craig has been such a wealth of information on chandlery, fittings and all things nautical really.
    I wish them both all the best with their move and look forward to seeing them back on the water soon.

  7. I too have always had great support from Craig, always friendly, generous with both time and money in that he did not charge like a wounded bull and always free with sage advice. He had a lovely trawler type boat and I trust he gets to enjoy it more

  8. During a CYA tour of Fosters I was fascinated by a tray of 6 inch long copper nails of wondrous working. Craig pressed one into my hand with the kind comment that he thought I needed it. THAT produced unswerving customer loyalty.
