  1. Hi That looks very much like Escapade that my mother and father Dorothy and Monty McHugh bought on the early 60’s. She had a (I think) petrol grey marine which broke down on the first family trip, resulting in a late night tow by the then fledgling Auckland Volunteer Coastguard. This resulted in dad joining Coastguard progressing to the cutter group and later SAR.
Dad through out the petrol motor and fitted a 60 HP ford and we cruised the gulf in her. She was as round as a barrel underneath and she rolled a lot but our family loved her. Dad sold her in the late 60’s and moved up to a 34FT Hartley named Stardrift.
Escapade went to waiheke island where she was moored for many years at Rocky bay. It was there that she got her current cabin top. The old coamings and roof had developed problems and a whole cabin top from the deck up was fitted.
    A great old boat.
