WESTHAVEN CLASSIC LAUNCHES

Today’s photos come to us from Scott Taylor and are from the same batch that Scott sent in earlier in the week. You may recall that Scott is the son of the late Mac Taylor, the Westhaven based boat broker.
Scott told us that the photos was probably taken by himself over fifty years ago while he was tagging along with his Dad at Westhaven.
In the top photo we see the 1970, Salthouse built launch -Idler, previously on WW  https://waitematawoodys.com/2013/03/27/idler/
In the 2nd photo, closet to the camera, we have a very new looking, modern, mystery launch, which I suspect used up a lot of sheets of plywood in her construction. Alongside her is what I assume is Connie V, the 1949 Lane Motor Boat Co. built launch. These days tucked away at The Slipway Milford, previously on WW
I’m unable to put a name to the last photo – Nathan?
She is an impressive looking craft.

  1. boat in the middle is obviously NOT Connie V.

Given that you spend a large chunk of your day either staring at or walking around Connie- V, its case closed 🙂 Alan H

  2. The launch in middle pic has a sliding door.

I agree with you Cameron. The 3rd window is the location of the ‘door’. Alan H

  3. Sorry to contradict Nath, but MANUROA/DOREEN has a sliding door on each the side of the coamings & the CONNIE V has no door. — The boat in the middle image has no door, therefore she has to be CONNIE V. — KEN R

  4. Middle is Manuroa/ Doreen alongside one whis I can’t pick- nay be something other than a Pelin/ Young design with that unusual cabin styling. Bottom looks like Australis?

  5. The bottom image is of the AUSTRALIS built for Jack Ploughman, by Supreme Craft (Mac McGeady) in 1955. Originally with 2 Austin Skipper 100 petrol engines replaced shortly after with 2 x 6 cyl Ford diesels — KEN R
