LADY JANE
The 32’10” Lady Jane was built in 1930, her builder is unknown, a previous owner believed it was built by Lidgards at Kawau Island but others have suggested Sam Ford. The black and white photo above is dated 1948.
Engine is a Ford 80hp diesel and LJ over the last 9 years has undergone a ‘rolling-restoration’ to see her in the condition she is presented in, on her tme listing.
I’m not sure which of the cabin window configuration I prefer – the x3 TV monitors eg or the x3 ‘eyebrow’ version on the b/w photo.
FYI – there have several Lady Jane launches on WW, seems she was a popular lady 🙂

no surprise, but I agree with Nate, looks like a 30’s Lang to me too.

Im going to guess Dick Lang 1930ish+, with the bridge deck added. And owners who just loved old fashioned windows (Sam ford Juliana etc)

Harold you are correct, except I owned one of the “other” Lady Janes,
With other vessels with the same name, its not hard for confusion to creep in.
Particularly where there are similarities, ie: both are bridgedeck launches?

Nath has a valid point. Maybe some builder had a stock of preWW1 side windows. However, Barry Abel, a former owner, had concluded she was built as a flush-decker. Some of the 1914-6 flushdeckers had this amount of flare. While we are shifting, most of my launch images are inaccessible unfortunately, but those windows are of that period and desperately old hat by 1919.

She reminds me of a boat we used to work on at John Gladdens called Jane S.She was keep in Milford and owned Barry Clow.

I took the 1948 image at Christmas of that year, as she was passing Mansion House bay, & entering Bon Accord Harbour, & I agree she could well be built by Sam Ford, comparing the bow lines with JULIANA, which was also built in 1930 by Ford – KEN R

My guess it’s a Sam Ford looking at the wheelhouse and frontal design lines plus the portholes of course, very similar to Moana.
