Unknown Launch 19/10

Another orphan

Ok train spotters, who can help ID the above? There is a bit of Lady Margaret to her.

Harold Kidd Update

I think it is MALOLO. I have a painting of the Viaduct on my office wall with MALOLO featured c1970 when she was fishing as AK171. It seems to be her, with those slanting forward windows.  In 1952 she was owned by H.A. Richards of Harlston Ave, Mt. Albert.

Who built her and when? No such info was given to APYMBA when Richards registered her in 1952, presumably because he didn’t know. A name change for a pre-1914 flushdecker?

  1. Have just cross referenced the images on the post of 15.1.2020 of LADY GILLIAN, & whilst there appears to be differences in the dodger details — this image having side small front end windows in the dodger & with people who appear to be sitting on a small boat or raft ,aft of the bridgedeck, & no apparent tram top in the section, between the bridgedeck & dodger, I still tend to agree with Nath., that such are the other similarities, in all respects, that she is indeed the same boat, & is LADY GILLIAN & I believe that at last, we have an answer to the riddle of the name of the boat as above. Thank you Nath for your excellent recall on this old post. — KEN R

  2. That was exactly when I knew her, she was hauled out, at Okahu Bay, alongside our boat JULIANA, & the owner at that tiime, (whose name I would’nt have recalled, but have met, fitted the bridgedeck as shown in the above pic., that year. — KEN RICKETTS

  4. I actually think it may be the MALOLO, myself, — but can’t be certain, so would like the thoughts of others — KEN RICKETTS
